ARI KAMO, PE
A seasoned and well-respected expert in the construction and engineering industry, Ari Kamo parlayed his years of trade experience into the creation of his own company in 2008.
Since inception, the business provided NYC Department of Buildings (DOB)-mandated inspection services for thousands of projects and has become one of New York City’s leading Special Inspection/Progress Inspection agencies.
A professional engineer with a background in architectural engineering, Ari’s career has embraced all aspects of construction practices in the building industry, from project management, construction cost-estimating and architectural layout to engineering design and DOB systems-filing and signoff procedures.
The Pennsylvania State University graduate takes great pride in his company’s reputation of uncompromising integrity and reliability, ensuring that every regulated component of an installation satisfies DOB and other New York City regulations, while helping to keep demanding construction schedules on track.
Ari’s professional licenses and accreditations include: Professional Engineer (PE); License to Practice Engineering in New York and New Jersey; Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Certified Energy Manager (CEM); AEE Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP); National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record Holder; International Code Council (ICC) Certified Structural Steel Erection & Bolting Systems Inspector, ICC Certified Structural Steel Welding Systems Inspector; American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Strength Testing Technician; ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level 1; ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1; ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Level 1 and 2; and has completed Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) 10 hour-Construction Safety and Health and NYC DOB 4 hour-Supported Scaffold training. Donna Barden is a civil engineer with a background in site design, geotechnical and environmental engineering, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. As an AK Engineering Technical Director, she oversees field inspectors and consults AK’s team on technical matters related to special inspection requirements and code interpretation. In addition to technical consulting, Donna visits construction sites to review work in progress as she inspects materials and installation methods. Donna further endeavors to ensure Building-Code compliance by expertly integrating the efforts of field and design teams. She competently coordinates the interests of contractors, vendors and consultants while monitoring issues of non-compliance and keeping project schedules on pace.
Donna is a candidate for professional engineer’s licensure and is certified as an Engineer in Training (EIT) by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). Donna also maintains a certifications as an ICC Certified Commercial Mechanical Inspector (CMI); ICC Certified Masonry Inspector; ICC Certified Structural Steel Erection & Bolting Systems Inspector; ICC Certified Structural Steel Welding Systems Inspector; and has completed OSHA 10 hour-Construction Safety and Health, NYC DOB 4 hour-Supported Scaffold and 16 hour-Suspended Scaffold Training.
Molly Glenn is a mechanical engineer with first-hand experience in designing HVAC systems. Her work as an AK Engineering technical director takes her to constructions sites, where she oversees other AK team members, monitors materials and installation procedures for adherence to the New York City Building Code, and expertly guides clients toward correcting issues of non-compliance.
Like all AK Engineering team members, Molly is skilled in inspections as well as working with contractors, vendors and consultants to ensure that demanding project schedules remain on track.
Molly has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, cum laude, from the University of Rochester (New York). Molly is also a candidate for professional engineer’s licensure and is certified as an Engineer in Training (EIT) by the NCEES. She maintains certifications as an ICC Certified Commercial Mechanical Inspector (CMI); ICC Certified Masonry Inspector; ICC Certified Structural Steel Erection & Bolting Systems Inspector; and has completed OSHA 10 hour-Construction Safety and Health, NYC DOB 4 hour-Supported Scaffold and 16 hour-Suspended Scaffold Training.
Ray is a mechanical engineer with experience in heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), energy systems and management, plumbing and sprinkler-systems, and more.
As an AK Engineering technical director he oversees construction projects by supervising AK inspectors, consulting on technical matters, reviewing installations, recording progress and ensuring that work and materials satisfy Building Code requirements.
Ray began learning about HVAC systems and energy management while attending the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). He graduated NYIT in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and earned a Master’s Degree in Energy Management in 2012. While an undergraduate student, he participated in numerous interdisciplinary activities, including the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon and the USS Intrepid Pavilion-design competition, which helped propel him into the building-systems industry.
Ray maintains certifications as an ICC Certified Commercial Mechanical Inspector (CMI), and an ICC Certified Masonry Inspector. He has also completed OSHA 10 hour-Construction Safety and Health, and NYC DOB 4 hour-Supported Scaffold Training.
Director of Operations
Adam manages operations at AK Engineering by coordinating the various departments in the organization. He oversees the day to day activities, manages the inspection calendar and dispatches all special inspectors. In addition, he analyzes and monitors the internal processes of the company and implements procedural changes as necessary to improve operational efficiency.
Adam’s past experience as a director of operations in the lighting & energy efficiency industry has played a huge role in the success of AK Engineering’s operations. Adam earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing/Management at Touro College in Queens, NY. Adam’s certifications include ICC Certified Commercial Mechanical Inspector (CMI), ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician; ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level 1; ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 and ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Level 1. Adam is also certified as a Notary Public of New York State and has completed the OSHA 10 hour-Construction Safety and Health, and NYC DOB 4 hour-Supported Scaffold Training.
Galy helps keep AK Engineering’s office operations running smoothly by managing all administrative procedures. She proficiently handles all proposal requests, manages accounting and ensures that all DOB/New York City-required filings are expeditiously submitted, processed and monitored.
